Joseph Philip Ryan professionally called Joe Ryan is one of the professional baseball pitchers currently in the major leagues and plays for the Minnesota Twins baseball team. He played high school baseball at Sir Francis Drake High School in San Anselmo, California.
He was drafted after high school by the San Francisco Giants in the 39th round of the 2014 MLB draft, but he did not sign and chose to play college baseball at California State University, Northridge. He also played collegiate summer baseball with the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League in 2015 and 2016.
He later transferred to California State University, Stanislaus to continue his baseball career. During the 2018 MLB draft, he was drafted out of college by the Tampa Bay Rays in the seventh round of the 2018 MLB draft. H signed with them and made his professional debut that year with the Hudson Valley Renegades.
He was assigned to spend the 2019 season with the Bowling Green Hot Rods and was promoted later in the season to the Charlotte Stone Crabs and Montgomery Biscuits. He did not play a minor league game in 2020 as the season got cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, he was with the Triple-A Durham Bulls. He was traded to the Minnesota Twins in 2020 and he made his MLB debut on September 1, 2021.
