Joseph Andrew Bart is simply called Joey Bart in an American baseball. He plays professional baseball as a catcher for the San Francisco Giants baseball team and earns a salary of $121,485 from the Giants.
He was born on December 15, 1996, in Buford, Georgia in the United States of America. He completed his high school education and baseball career at Buford High School in Buford, Georgia. He played as the starting catcher for the school’s baseball team during his freshman year.
After high school, the Tampa Bay Rays selected him in the 27th round of the 2015 MLB draft, but he did not sign with them and chose to play college baseball at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He played for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and was a business administration major student.
He also played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) in 2016 where he has named a league All-Star. During the 2018 MLB draft, he was considered a top prospect and the San Francisco Giants selected him in the second overall pick of the draft.
He signed with the Giants and received $7,025,000 as a signing bonus. the largest signing bonus ever for a position player. He was invited by the Giants to their spring training as a non-roster player in 2019.
During the 2019 minor league season, he was assigned to play with the San Jose Giants of the Class A-Advanced California League. The Giants promoted him to the majors in August 2020 and he made his MLB debut that night against the Los Angeles Angels.
