Joey Chestnut is an American competitive eater. He is currently ranked first in the world by Major League Eating. He is a California native and resides in Westfield, Indiana. Chestnut’s height is 6 ft 0 in (1.83 m); his weight is 230 pounds (100 kg).
On July 4, 2017, he set a new world record of 72 hot dogs, which he surpassed the following year with a new record of 74 hot dogs. He won his tenth title in 2019 with 71 HDB, but he was unable to break his own record.
For the competition, he ate 75 HDB in 2020, which was a world record. His HDB consumption in 2021 was an all-time high of 76, setting a new record for the race.
In 2005, Chestnut, a student at San Jose State University, made a name for himself in the competitive eating arena by consuming 6.3 pounds (2.9 kilograms) of deep-fried asparagus in just 11.5 minutes.
In the same year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, he consumed 32 HDB and came in third place, trailing only Takeru Kobayashi and Sonya Thomas.
Chestnut, competing in the GoldenPalace.net World Grilled Cheese Eating Championship circuit, broke a new world record on October 22, 2005, when he downed 32.5 grilled cheese sandwiches in ten minutes at the Arizona State Fair.
Chestnut beat Thomas in the Waffle House World Waffle Devouring Championship and finished second to her in a Krystal Square Off World Hamburger Eating Championship qualifier, eating 56 Krystal Burgers in eight minutes to her 57 in Thomas’s eight-minute time.
Kobayashi finished with the second-highest score in the final with 97 hamburgers, while he finished with 91.

American competitive eater Joey Chestnut was born to his parents Merlin Chestnut (father) and Alicia Chestnut (mother). It is speculated that his parents belong to the middle class.
