Jordan was born September 6, 1996, in Houston, Texas in the United States of America to parents Scott Hicks and Kelly Justice. He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the third round of the 2015 MLB draft. He signed with the Cardinals and received $600,000 as a signing bonus.
Jordan began his professional career the following year playing with the Johnson City Cardinals of the Rookie Appalachian League. He was promoted that same season to play with the State College Spikes of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League.
