Jordan Tyler Whitehead plays professionally for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He plays the position of safety. He attended Monaca, Pennsylvania’s Central Valley High School. He ran track in addition to playing football. Since his freshman year, he has started for Central Valley and has played on both sides of the ball.
He ran for 1,933 yards on 148 attempts as a senior and completed 24 passes for 471 yards. He finished with 97 tackles, seven interceptions, 35 touchdowns, and 97 tackles. He participated in collegiate football with the University of Pittsburgh’s Pittsburgh Panthers.
Whitehead participated in all 13 of Pittsburgh’s games in 2015 as a true freshman, starting the last 12. He won the Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year accolades from the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association in addition to being named to the USA Today All-American Team, ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, and ACC All-Conference Third Team.
He skipped his senior year and declared for the 2018 NFL Draft after the 2017 season. He was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. While playing in Super Bowl LV, Whitehead made two lone tackles. He agreed to a two-year, $14.5 million contract with the New York Jets in March 2022.
