Josephine Ann Tewson was a British stage and television character actress. She was best known for her roles in British television sitcoms. She passed away on August 18, 2022, and was born on February 26, 1931 in Hampstead, London, United Kingdom. She received a degree in 1952 from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where she studied.
In the television series Keeping Up Appearances, she played Elizabeth Warden, Hyacinth Bucket’s reluctant confidante and neighbor. She also played the roles of Mrs. Briggs and the Fairy Godmother in the children’s movie Gabrielle and the Doodleman from 1984.

(“The Bespectacled Bounder,” 2012). She began touring the UK with her one-woman show Still Keeping Up Appearances? in early 2019 after launching it in 2012.
