Kai Nacua, also known as Kaimana Nacua, is a professional football player who plays free safety for the New York Jets of the National Football League. Kai is 1.83 meters tall and weighs 93 kilograms. He was born on March 3, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nevada, by Lionel and Penina Nacua. Kai was a student at Liberty High School in Henderson, Nevada.
After high school, he enrolled at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he played collegiate football for the BYU Cougars. He was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in May 2017. On September 3, 2017, they released him, and the following day they added him to their practice squad. On September 8, 2017, they promoted him to the active roster.
The Browns released Nacua in April 2018. The Baltimore Ravens picked him up off waivers in May 2018. He joined the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad in December 2018. On December 31, 2018, he and the Panthers came to terms on a reserve/future contract. In August of this year, he received his release.
November 2020 saw the addition of Nacua to the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, then on December 2 he was promoted to the active roster. After being cut from the practice squad of the 49ers, Nacua was signed by the New York Jets in December 2021. He was elevated to the active roster on December 25, 2021.
