Since August 24, 2021, Kathy Hochul, real name Kathleen Courtney Hochul, has been the 57th governor of New York. She is an American lawyer and politician. She is the first female governor of New York and the first from upstate New York since the 1930s. She is also a member of the Democratic Party.
On August 27, 1958, she was born in Buffalo, New York. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School in 1980 and a Juris Doctor from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in 1984 before becoming politically active during her college years there.
