Russell Edward Brand is a comedian, actor, radio host, and YouTuber from the United Kingdom.

Brand rose to prominence in 2004 as the host of Big Brother’s Big Mouth, a Big Brother spin-off, after beginning his career as a comedian and then becoming an MTV presenter.

He received his first major film part in St Trinian’s in 2007, and the following year he landed a prominent role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, a romantic comedy-drama; the film led to him starring in a spin-off, the rock comedy Get Him to the Greek, alongside Jonah Hill in 2010.

He also voiced the title character in the 2011 version of the love comedy Arthur and served as a voice actor in the animated features Despicable Me, Hop, and Despicable Me 2. Messiah Complex, his popular stand-up special, was released in 2013.

Brand dresses in “flamboyant boho attire,” according to his author biography on Goodreads.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and bipolar disorder have both been identified with him. He also had bulimia, was addicted to pornography, and self-harmed.

In mid-2009, Brand met American singer Katy Perry while filming a cameo for his film Get Him to the Greek, albeit the part was deleted from the finished product.

They started dating after reuniting in September at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

On New Year’s Eve 2009, while on vacation in India, the two were engaged, and on October 23, 2010, they married in a Hindu ceremony near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan.

After watching the documentary “Forks Over Knives,” which analyzes how plant-based diets can reduce risks for cardiovascular disease and other chronic illnesses, Brand and Perry announced on Twitter in October 2011 that they had turned to a vegan diet.
