Kervin Alexander Castro, a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball, was born on February 7, 1999. (MLB). In 2015, he joined the Giants as an international free agent.
In 2017, he had Tommy John surgery. He made his MLB debut in September 2021. When Castro was 16 years old, he signed as an international free agent with the San Francisco Giants for $100,000.
He was formerly a catcher who switched to pitcher. He was 3-1 with a 4.71 ERA in 14 bullpen appearances totaling 21 innings with the Rookie-level DSL Giants in the Dominican Summer League (DSL; Southern Division) in 2016.
In 2017, he had Tommy John surgery. As a result, he missed the whole 2017 season and nearly all of 2018, just tossing one inning in the DSL in 2018.
In 2019, he was a mid-season and post-season Northwest League All Star with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the Class A Short Season, going 5-3 with a 2.66 ERA and 0.96 WHIP (leading the league) in 14 starts (2nd), covering 67.2 innings (2nd).
After the 2020 season, the Giants added him to their 40-man roster. In the year 2021, he split his time between the Triple-A West Sacramento River Cats and the main league San Francisco Giants. He currently earns $570,500 per year in 2022.
