Additionally, Dugger competed in the 2020 Senior Bowl, where scouts commended his instincts on the field. Due to his quickness on the field, scouts projected Dugger to play safety, cornerback, or returner in the NFL.
In the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots selected Dugger with the 37th overall choice. He was the first pick in that selection to have experience playing outside of Division I FBS.
During the Cowboys’ 29-35 overtime loss in Week 6, Dugger picked off Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott for the first time in his career.
The following week, Dugger picked off Jets quarterback Mike White in a 54-13 victory, giving him his second consecutive game with a pick.
