For the New York Jets of the National Football League, offensive guard Laken Tomlinson was born in Jamaica. He is 143 kg and 1.91 m tall. He was a two-sport star in football and track at Lane Technical College Prep High School, where he attended. As a senior, he was chosen as an Illinois High School Football Coaches Association and Chicago Tribune All-State pick.
As a senior, he received the team MVP award. From 2010 to 2014, he participated in collegiate football for the Duke Blue Devils at Duke University. In his first season, he was a starter, and for the course of his collegiate career, he started 52 games. He received an All-American designation from the Walter Camp Football Foundation as a senior (WCFF).
He received the Anthony J. McKevlin Award in 2015, which led to him being awarded the men’s ACC Athlete of the Year. The Detroit Lions selected him in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He was transferred to the San Francisco 49ers in August 2017. He missed the first game of the season, but he started the following 15 games at left guard in 2017.
He became a free agent in 2019 after the 49ers turned down his contract’s fifth-year option in May 2018. He did, however, agree to a three-year, $18 million agreement with the 49ers on June 22, 2018, with $10 million guaranteed. He agreed to a three-year deal with the New York Jets in March 2022.
