Lewis Hamilton is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula One for Mercedes. Throughout his career in Formula One, Hamilton has won seven World Drivers’ Championships (shared with Michael Schumacher), the most wins (103), pole positions (103), and podiums (185).
Hamilton joined the McLaren young driver program in 1998 after growing up in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Hamilton became the first and so far only black driver to race in Formula One when he joined McLaren in 2007 and stayed there until 2012.
The first season of Hamilton’s career saw him finish second behind Kimi Räikkönen by one point. His first title came the following season when he became the youngest Formula One World Champion in history after executing a thrilling pass on the final lap of his final race of the season to earn his first title.
