Lorenzo began playing baseball professionally in 2005 after the Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the 17th round of the 2004 MLB Draft out of college. With the AZL Brewers and the Rookie League Helena Brewers, he took part in the 2005 minor league season. In 2006, the Brewers moved him to the Class A West Virginia Power, where he was chosen for the South Atlantic League’s midseason and playoff All-Star teams.
