Mark Canha is an American professional baseball outfielder and first baseman for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Oakland Athletics. Canha made his MLB debut in 2015.
Mark started playing baseball in college. In his senior year at Bellarmine College Preparatory, he batted .440 with 11 home runs.
After graduating from high school, he attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he played college baseball for the California Golden Bears baseball team.
Canha was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the seventh round of the 2010 MLB draft. Four years after his draft, Canha began playing minor leagues. He joined the New Orleans Zephyrs of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League (PCL).
After playing for the New Orleans Zephyrs for some time, Mark Canha was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 2014 Rule 5 draft from the Marlins and then traded to the Athletics for Austin House.
He played for the Oakland Athletics for seven seasons from 2015 to 2021. Mark Canha hit a career-high 17 home runs with 52 RBIs and a .249/.328/.449 batting line.
