Max Joseph Kranick is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball. Kranick was born on July 21, 1997.
Kranick received their secondary education in Archbald, Pennsylvania at Valley View High School. He finished his high school career with an earned run average of 1.17.
Following the completion of his senior year, he was chosen by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball draft in the year 2016.
In exchange for $300,000, he gave up his pledge to play for the University of Virginia and accepted the contract.
Kranick made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Pirates that summer, going 1–2 with a 2.43 ERA in nine games.
In 2017, he pitched for the Gulf Coast League and the Rookie-level Appalachian League’s Bristol Pirates, with a combined 1–0 record and 1.11 ERA in five starts.
He pitched for the Class A South Atlantic League’s West Virginia Power in 2018, going 4–5 with a 3.81 ERA in 17 games,
and the Class A-Advanced Florida State League’s Bradenton Marauders in 2019, going 6–7 with a 3.79 ERA in twenty starts.
Kranick made his MLB debut against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 27, 2021. Before the rain delay, he tossed five flawless innings and struck out three hitters.
He retired 15 hitters to start a major league career. Kranick finished 2-3 with a 6.28 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 38+23 innings for the Pirates.
