Lee Michael Zeldin is an American attorney and an officer in the United States Army Reserve. On Tuesday, he won the Republican nomination for governor,
clinching the nomination with a comfortable victory over former White House staffer Andrew Giuliani, businessman Harry Wilson and former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino in the party primary.
Ariana’s father is garnering national attention as a result of his victory.
On January 30th, 1980, he was born in the US. Since his initial election to the House of Representatives in 2015, he has served as the representative for New York’s top congressional district.
In addition to a tiny piece of Islip in Suffolk County, his district includes Smithtown, Brookhaven, Riverhead, Southold, Southampton, East Hampton and Shelter Island.
From 2011 to 2014, Zeldin served as the 3rd Senate District’s senator for the state of New York.
Throughout Trump’s administration, Zeldin remained a devoted supporter of the president-elect. During Trump’s initial impeachment proceedings pertaining to the Trump-Ukraine affair, he made a point of protecting the president.
After Trump lost the 2020 presidential election and started making speculative charges of voter fraud, Zeldin voted against the certification of Arizona’s and Pennsylvania’s electoral votes. In April of that year, Zeldin declared his intention to run for governor of New York the next year.
He won the Republican primary, where he competed against three other candidates, and is now the nominee for governor of both the Republican Party and the Conservative Party.
