Midnight black, Miami blue, Caliente red, and Slate are the colors for the Miami Marlins but for the 2022 season Marlins, are going for “City Connect” Unifor in remembrance of Cuba’s Sugar Kings
Miami Marlins debuted their first-ever Nike City Connect jersey, an ode to Latin America’s contributions to the game’s history. The Boston Red Sox debuted their yellow jerseys in April, the first of seven City Connect uniforms that will be worn by Major League Baseball teams in 2021.
Cuban Sugar Kings, a legendary Triple-A Minor League Baseball team that won the Junior World Series in 1959, will be honored with an alternate uniform for the Marlins’ home opener against the New York Mets on May 21. For the next three seasons, this uniform will only be worn a few times per year, similar to Boston’s City Connect uniform.
Miami Marlins Nike “City Connect” Uniform
It is an inverted version of the Sugar Kings uniform, which is white with red pinstripes instead of the opposite – the Marlins will wear red jerseys with white pinstripes instead.
There’s no “Miami” or “Miami” stitching or “M” on this shirt; instead, there is a patch of the Marlins’ insignia on the left sleeve that shows simply the marlin jumping.
