Michael Lorenzen is an American professional baseball pitcher and outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Cincinnati Reds.
On April 29, 2015, Lorenzen made his major league pitching debut against the Milwaukee Brewers. After giving up eight hits (three of which were homers), he was credited with the 8–3 loss after walking one and striking out five.
On August 14, he was optioned to Louisville by Cincinnati. On August 31, the Reds recalled him from the minors.
When he pitched for the Reds, he went 4–9 with a 5.40 ERA in 21 appearances, but he was a perfect 4–2 with a 1.88 ERA in six starts for Louisville.
He missed the first half of spring training in 2016 because of a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
He returned to Cincinnati and worked in relief with the Reds, where he went 2–1 with a 2.88 ERA in 35 appearances. With a 4.45 earned run average in 70 appearances in 2017, he had an 8–4 record.
During a June 30, 2018, game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Lorenzen was summoned to pinch-hit and hit a grand slam off pitcher Jacob Barnes. In 2018, it was Lorenzen’s third home run.
