The Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball’s American League employ an American outfielder by the name of Matthew “Mickey” (MLB).
Phillies picked Moniak as their first overall choice in the 2016 MLB draft. On the baseball team, Moniak was a centre fielder.
He attended La Costa Canyon High School in San Diego and played for the baseball team. He had a.461 batting average with two home runs and 27 runs batted in as a sophomore (RBI).
When Moniak was a junior in 2015, he had a.426 career batting average with a 1.062 on-base percentage and slugging percentage (OPS).
At Petco Park in August of that year, he participated in the Perfect Game All-American Classic. Moniak batted.476 with a.961 slugging percentage in 29 games as a senior in 2016, with 40 runs, 12 triples (a San Diego Section record), seven home runs, and 46 RBI.
He was voted High School Player of the Year by Baseball America, Gatorade California Baseball Player of the Year by Gatorade, and San Diego Section Player of the Year by San Diego Section.
Moniak intends to play collegiate baseball at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
