Mitch Garver is an American professional baseball catcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Minnesota Twins.
His parents Gail and Jerry Garver welcomed him into the world on January 15, 1991, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a baseball catcher for Albuquerque’s La Cueva High School.
Garver’s coach recommended that he move to the United Kingdom to continue his soccer career at a European academy because of Garver’s prowess as a defender for the school soccer team.
Garver, a baseball fanatic, was “terrified” by the idea and declined the offer.
On the baseball and soccer teams, as an 18-year-old in 2008, he was instrumental in helping both teams get to the finals of the state championship.
The Albuquerque Public Schools Male Athlete of the Year award was bestowed upon Garver upon his graduation in 2009. As a senior, he hit for a high average of .521 with 10 home runs.
