Morton M. Mower (January 31, 1933 – April 25, 2022) was an American cardiologist and co-inventor of the automatic implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (AICD).
He died on April 25, 2022, in Denver, Colorado, United States. During his time at Sinai Hospital and Cardiac Pacemakers Inc., he held a variety of professional positions.
He joined Mower Research Associates in 1996 and rose to the position of chairman and chief executive officer. During the 1970s, he collaborated with Michel Mirowski on the invention of the automated implanted cardioverter defibrillator, which was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame the following year.
The biomechanical engineering laboratory at The Johns Hopkins University served as a continuation of his study.
