He is said to have had his grandmother R. Komalavalli teaching him how to play the Carnatic violin at the age of 10 and had his breakthrough or professional debut by playing for the Neyveli Santhanagopalan in New Delhi at the age of 12.
Sriram has worked with a lot of famous musical acts like R. K. Srikantan, M. Balamuralikrishna, P. Unnikrishnan, T. N. Seshagopalan, T. V. Sankaranarayanan.
He has also worked with many others like O. S. Thyagarajan, K. V. Narayanaswamy, S. Sowmya, Hyderabad Brothers, Dr N. Ramani, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, T. M. Krishna, Malladi brothers and the Carnatica Brothers.
