Nathan Shepherd is the full name of Daniel Shepherd is a professional American football player of Canadian ancestry who competes for the National Football League’s New York Jets as a defensive tackle. He is 143 kg and 1.93 m tall. The Ajax/Pickering Dolphins Football Club was where he played youth football.
His secondary schooling was completed at Clarke Richardson Collegiate. At Simon Fraser University, where he played college football, he redshirted his first season but was able to start every game his second as a defensive end. After a total of two years, he dropped out of school because he could no longer afford the tuition.
He was eventually contacted by Fort Hays State University, and he was able to cover the cost of his first semester of tuition before being given an athletic scholarship. He received the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year award following the 2017 campaign. He was taken by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was given a four-year, $3.87 million contract by the Jets in May 2018, which also included a $987,724 signing bonus.
On September 10, 2019, Shepherd was penalized six games for breaking the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. On October 29, 2019, he returned from suspension, and on November 1 of that same year, he was activated. Shepherd and the Jets agreed to a one-year contract extension in March 2022.
