David Nathaniel Lowe Jr. is a Major League Baseball first baseman for the Texas Rangers. On July 7, 1995, he was born. He was previously with the Tampa Bay Rays.
In Marietta, Georgia, Lowe attended Pope High School. In 2014, he enrolled at Mercer University and joined the Mercer Bears’ baseball team. He played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2016 after transferring to St. Johns River State College in 2015.
The Rays was where he started his professional career. In the 2016 MLB draft, he was chosen in the 13th round, 390th overall. In 67 games, he batted.300/.382/.437 with four home runs and 40 runs batted in (RBIs) for the Hudson Valley Renegades of the Class A Short Season New York-Penn League.
On April 29, 2019, the Rays called Lowe up to the big leagues. In a game against the New York Yankees on July 5, 2019, he blasted his first major league home run.
The Rays transferred Lowe, along with Jake Guenther and Carl Chester, to the Texas Rangers on December 10, 2020, in exchange for Heriberto Hernandez, Osleivis Basabe, and Alexander Ovalles.
