Nicolas Mahut was born in the French town of Angers in 1982. When he was five years old, he began training at the Beaucouzé Tennis Club. When he was eleven, he joined a tennis club in Paris.
He now resides in Boulogne-Billancourt, a Paris suburb near Roland Garros. He married Virginie in 2007, and on August 18, 2011, she gave birth to their son Natanel.
On the ATP Tour, his closest pals are countrymen Michal Llodra, Édouard Roger-Vasselin, Julien Benneteau, and Paul-Henri Mathieu.
Mahut has also become excellent friends with American tennis player John Isner, with whom he played in the longest professional tennis match ever, which lasted over 11 hours at Wimbledon in 2010.
