Since 2021, Penelope Mary Mordaunt FRSA, a British politician, has held the position of Minister of State for Trade Policy. She was born on March 4, 1973.
She has served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Portsmouth North since 2010 and is a member of the Conservative Party. She served as the Secretary of State for International Development and Defence in Theresa May’s Cabinet from 2017 to 2019.

Mordaunt attended the University of Reading to study philosophy and worked in public relations. As a member of the Conservative Party, she worked for John Major and William Hague, as well as for George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004.
She became the first female First Minister’s Minister for the Armed Forces after the 2015 general election. Penny Mordaunt became the first woman to fill the position of Secretary of State for Defense in May 2019.
Before returning to the House of Representatives, she served as Defense Secretary for 85 days. She returned to cabinet in a February 2020 reshuffle as Paymaster General and Trade Minister.
Mordaunt was a candidate for the Conservative Party’s leadership in July 2022, hoping to become the party’s next prime minister.
