Peter Stephen Paul Brook CH CBE was a British film and theater director who settled in France in the early 1970s and remained there for the rest of his career.
He was awarded several Tony Awards, as well as Emmy Awards, as well as the Laurence Olivier Award, the Japanese Praemium Imperiale, and the Prix Italia. The phrase “our finest living theatre director” was frequently used to refer to him.
