Priti Patel is a British politician who served as Home Secretary from 2019 to 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, she was Secretary of State for International Development from 2016 to 2017.

Prior to enrolling at Keele University to pursue a degree in economics, Priti had her education at a comprehensive school in Watford. At the University of Essex, she was able to successfully complete her postgraduate studies.

Between the months of May 2015 and July 2016, Priti served as the Minister of State for Employment. Between the months of July 2014 and May 2015, she served as the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury.

Priti was nominated by the Prime Minister as the first ever UK Indian Diaspora Champion in November of 2013. Before she entered politics, she had a career in consulting and had experience working in several countries.
