Priti Patel is a British politician who served as Home Secretary from 2019 to 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, she was Secretary of State for International Development from 2016 to 2017.
Patel has been a Euroskeptic for a very long time, and during the 2016 referendum on the United Kingdom’s membership in the European Union, he was a key figure in the Vote Leave campaign for Brexit.
After David Cameron stepped down as Prime Minister, Patel lent his support to Theresa May’s campaign for the leadership of the Conservative Party. May went on to appoint Patel as Secretary of State for International Development.
Patel was asked to quit his position as International Development Secretary by Theresa May in 2017 as a result of his involvement in a political crisis that occurred in 2017 and involved unauthorized contacts with the government of Israel. These meetings violated the Ministerial Code.
Priti Patel Parents: Meet Anjana Patel and Sushil Patel
Sushil and Anjana Patel are Priti Patel’s parents. Priti is their daughter. The couple is considered to be members of the first immigrant generation from Uganda.
They arrived in the United Kingdom in the 1960s and eventually made their home in Hertfordshire, where they established a network of newsagents.
They arrived in the UK just a few years before Ugandan dictator Idi Amin ordered the deportation of Ugandan Asians in 1972.
This left thousands of people as refugees and asylum seekers, many of whom sought sanctuary in the UK. Their entrance into the UK came just a few years before this.
