Regina Hall was the daughter of Odie Hall, a contractor and electrician, and Ruby Hall, a teacher. Hall attended Fordham University in the Bronx after graduating from Immaculata College High School, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1992.
She later attended New York University, where she received her master’s degree in journalism in 1997. When asked about his college experience, Hall stated: “I had a great time as a student. I could have gone to school until I was 75 years old if someone had paid my rent. I would have become a professional student if I hadn’t been a professional student.”
Scleroderma, an uncommon autoimmune condition, was detected in Hall’s mother in 2004. When not working in Hollywood, Hall may be seen twice a week helping in the care of senior adults at a convalescent home in Sherman Oaks, California, as well as promoting public awareness for the condition.
“I didn’t know much about the disease when my mother was diagnosed.” However, Dana Delany, an actress who is now a friend of mine, got me in touch with Bob Saget. Bob created a television documentary about scleroderma years ago when his sister died from it.
That was back when they had no idea what it was. Anyway, Bob had a nonprofit called the Scleroderma Research Foundation, so I gave to them, and my mother even went to see the doctor Bob had recommended, who happened to be at Johns Hopkins.
