The parents of Rodger Saffold are Rodger Saffold II and Angela Coopridge. Midway through the 1970s, Rodger II, his father, played at the University of Iowa. From an early age, Ohio native and Bills guard Rodger Saffold III knew he wanted to play football as a child and from an early age.
With love and encouragement, his father, Rodger Saffold II, led the way for him. Rodger Saffold II guided his kid toward his goals and assisted him in choosing his profession.
During his playing days at Bedford High (Ohio) and into his university days at Indiana University, when he became a dominant performer and a team captain, Saffold stated his father drove him to workouts and supported him every step of the way.
When Saffold was a college student, his father would send him videotapes of players for him to watch, and he claims that this helped him develop into a player of NFL caliber. The Rams selected Saffold in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Saffold said of his father, “He was always there, very supportive.” “He gave (me) a thumbs up and a thumbs down after drives (when I got off the field) during games in high school to assess how well I did. Fortunately, the response was invariably positive.”
Thanks to his father’s constant teaching, Rodger Saffold III gained an understanding of what it means to be a man along the way.
At the end of August, Rodger Saffold III lost his father. Rodger Saffold II’s funeral took place on September 2nd.
