Ryan Pressly, full name Thomas Ryan Pressly happens to play professional baseball for the Houston Astros baseball team. He plays the position of a pitcher and earns an annual salary of $15 million from the team.
Ryan was born in Dallas, Texas on December 15, 1988. As an amateur baseball player, he played for his high school team at the American Heritage Academy in Carrollton, Texas where he spent three years before transferring to Edward S. Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas for his senior year.
During the 2007 MLB draft, the Boston Red Sox drafted him in the 11th round the draft. He signed with them and was given $100,000 as a signing bonus. Ryan made his professional debut with the Red Sox that season and played for them till the Minnesota Twins selected him in the 2012 Rule 5 draft.
Ryan made his MLB debut with the Twins on April 4 2014 after being promoted to the major leagues. In July 2018, the Houston Astros purchased Ryan’s contract from the Twins. The Astros signed him on a two-year contract extension worth $17.5 million at the beginning of the 2019 season. In April 2022, the Astros and Ryan had an agreement to extend his contract for another two years.
