Sam Coonrod

Samuel Timothy Coonrod professionally called Sam Coonrod is a professional baseball player of American descent known to play as a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. Sam is 1.88 m tall and weighs 102 kg.

He was born on September 22, 1992, in St. Louis, Missouri in the United States of America but grew up in Carrollton, Illinois. He had his amateur high school baseball at Carrollton High School, where he helped his team win a state championship. After high school, he played college baseball with the Southern Illinois Salukis of the Missouri Valley Conference.

He also played collegiate summer baseball in 2012 for the Quincy Gems and the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in 2013. After college, the San Francisco Giants selected him in the fifth round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He was assigned to the Rookie Arizona League Giants that season to start his professional career.

In 2015, he played for the Single-A Augusta GreenJackets of the South Atlantic League where he earned his first win. In July 2015, he was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week, following a win against the Hickory Crawdads. The Giants promoted him to the major leagues on May 26, 2019, and he made his MLB debut the same day. The Giants traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies in January 2021 and he has been with them till now.
