Sergey Brin Parents: Meet Michael Brin and Eugenia Brin
Sergey Brin is a computer scientist and internet entrepreneur who co-founded Google Inc in 1998 with Larry Page.
Sergey Brin is the son of Jewish parents Michael and Eugenia Brin and was born in Moscow.
His father taught mathematics, and his mother worked at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
Meet Michael Brin
Michael Brin is a retired mathematician at the University of Maryland and a specialist in dynamical systems
In the Soviet Union, he worked in the early 1970s with Jakow Pessin on partially hyperbolic dynamical systems and received his doctorate in 1975 at Kharkiv State University
Brin’s academic career was backed up in the Soviet Union because of his Jewish origins.
He worked at Gosplan in economic planning, and his wife Eugenia was a scientist in NASA Goddard Space Flight Center research.
Brin, therefore, applied for an exit visa and was able to emigrate to the USA with his family in 1979.
Brin is the father of Google co-founder Sergey Brin
Meet Eugenia Brin
Eugenia Brin is a former NASA Goddard Space Flight Center research scientist.
In 1979, she and her family moved to the United States from the former Soviet Union.
Eugenia is an associate professor and board member of the Hebrew Immigration Aid Society (HIAS), where she served as the national chair for myStory, a project aimed at chronicling Jewish immigration to America.
Eugenia is currently in charge of a project to digitize the HIAS archive.
In 2008, the University of Maryland School of Medicine established the Eugenia Brin Professorship in Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders as a result of a gift from Eugenia’s family.
This will support the faculty’s ongoing PD clinical and research work. Genia was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1999.
