Investigators are seeking to figure out whether the incident was a domestic murder-suicide or an orchestrated assault, according to reports.
Their deaths were discovered a day after another Gazprom executive was discovered dead in similar circumstances with his own family in Moscow.

On Tuesday, April 19, Natalya and her daughter were discovered at their home in the Catalan seaside resort of Lloret de Mar, according to the Spanish news site El Punt Avui.
When the couple’s eldest son, who lives in France, couldn’t reach her, sources said, he raised the alarm. According to the publication, the mother and daughter were stabbed to death, and Sergei Protosenya hanged himself.
According to some news outlets, Protosenya’s wife Natalya is 53 years old, while their daughter is only 18 years old.
The death of a Russian oligarch is being investigated by Spanish police. A police patrol arrived at the crime scene quickly.
According to the Spanish website El Punt Avui, Protosenya has a net worth of $440 million. He worked as the chief financial officer of oil business Tarkosaleneftegaz and the head accountant of another oil major, Novatek.
He was apparently trained as an engineer and economist. In 1994, Novatek-Tarkosaleneftegaz was founded to manage oil and gas fields.
Following a board reorganization, Newsweek began investigating an archived page on Novatek’s website in March 2015 to nominate Sergey Protosenya as vice-chair.
