Shirley Hughes was a highly-respected and popular British author and illustrator, having written over 60 books and illustrated over 200. She’s best known for her Alfie and Dogger series of stories.
Shirley was brought into the world on sixteenth July 1927 in West Kirby, close to Liverpool. She concentrated on style and dress plan at Liverpool Art School, prior to proceeding with her examinations at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art in Oxford.

Ed Vulliamy
Ed Vulliamy is a British journalist and writer who formally worked with the Guardian and Observer writer. He had his education at the independent King’s College School, Cambridge, University College School, and at Hertford College, Oxford, where he won an Open Scholarship.
Kick-starting his career in 1979, Ed joined Granada Television’s present undertakings program World in real life, and in 1985 won a Royal Television Society (RTS) Award for a film regarding Ireland.
In 1986, he joined The Guardian as a journalist, later Rome reporter covering the Mafia and Southern Europe. From that point, he covered the Balkan wars, uncovering a gulag of death camps.
In August 1992, Vulliamy and British TV correspondent Penny Marshall figured out how to get sufficiently close to the infamous Omarska and Trnopolje camps, worked by the Bosnian Serbs for primarily Bosnian Muslim and Croat Catholic prisoners.
