Steven Chandler Okert, simply called Steven Okert is one of the professional baseball pitchers in the major leagues. He plays for the Miami Marlins baseball team. He is 1.88m tall and earns $709,000 as an annual salary from the Marlins.
Steven was born on July 9, 1991, to Roger and Tammy Okert in Riverside, California in the United States of America. He was a baseball player in high school at Rowlett High School in Rowlett, Texas. After high school, he enrolled at Grayson County College where he played college baseball.
He was drafted out of college by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 43rd round of the 2010 MLB draft but he did not sign with them. The Brewers drafted him again the following and he still refused to sign with them and transferred to the University of Oklahoma where he graduated.
During the 2012 MLB draft, he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 4th round of the draft. He signed with the Giants and made his professional debut that year with the Arizona League Giants. That same season, he played for the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
He was assigned to spend the 2013 season with the Augusta GreenJackets. In 2014, he played with the San Jose Giants and was promoted during the season to the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels. The Giants added him to their 40-man roster and promoted him to the major leagues in April 2016.
Steven made his MLB debut for the Giants on April 19 2016 when they played against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He signed a minor league contract in February 2021 with the Miami Marlins.
