Tanner Owen from Northwest Missouri State University has signed a free agent contract with the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills.
Throughout his four-year football career for the Bearcats, Owen (Kearney, Mo.) started every one of the 52 games on the offensive line.
With a first-team selection in 2019 and a second-team selection in 2021, Owen was a two-time AFCA All-America selection.
Three times, Owen was named to the first team of the MIAA. He earned first-team D2CCA recognition in 2019 and 2021, and as a senior, he was named to the Don Hansen Division II All-America first team.
He played for the Bearcat offense in 2021, which finished No. 13 in the country in terms of total offense (457.5 yards per game). Al McKeller, a running back who was a nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy, led the MIAA in rushing thanks in part to Owen (1,601 yards).
Mike Hohensee, the nation’s top-ranked quarterback in terms of passing efficiency (73.6%) and passing completion percentage, benefited from Owen’s assistance in keeping pass rushers away from him (187.3 ratings).
