Professional football player Thomas Hennessy plays long snapper for the National Football League’s New York Jets. While attending Don Bosco Preparatory High School, he earned three football letters. Over a three-year span, he helped the club to a 35-0 record. The school also won three state championships and was named the national champion by USA Today in 2009 and 2011.
For the class of 2012, he was ranked as the ninth-best long snapper in the country. He enrolled at Duke University after completing his high school education and played NCAA football there for the Duke Blue Devils from 2013 to 2016.
From 2013 to 2016, he started at quarterback in every game. During his tenure in college, he took part in 52 games, starting every single one of them, for a total of 545 snaps. He made three solo tackles in addition to one tackle assist. At the university, he studied biology for his major and psychology for his minor.
After getting his degree from the university, he was not selected in the NFL Draft; as a result, on May 4, 2017, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts. He was traded to the New York Jets in August 2017. On October 5, 2019, Hennessy and the Jets reached an agreement on a four-year, $4.4 million contract extension.
