Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods, an American professional golfer who ranks second in men’s major championships, is tied for the lead in PGA Tour victories and owns a number of golfing records.
Woods was born to Earl and Kultida “Tida” Woods in Cypress, California, on December 30, 1975. He is their only child and comes from his father’s first marriage with two half-brothers and a half-sister.
One of the most well-known athletes in contemporary history, Woods is recognized as one of the all-time greats of golf. He was honored with a World Golf Hall of Fame induction.
Woods became a professional in 1996 at the age of 20 after having a stellar junior, collegiate, and amateur golfing career. He won three PGA Tour competitions by the end of April 1997 in addition to his first major, the 1997 Masters, which he won by a record-breaking 12 shots.
Less than a year after turning professional, in June 1997, he made his first ascent to the top of the global rankings winning 18 World Golf Championships. He was also a member of the American Ryder Cup winning squad in 1999.

Woods has two children with his wife Elin Nordegren who is a Swedish model. The couple got married in 2004 and they divorced in 2010.
His daughter, Sam Alexis Wood 14, was born in June 2007 and Charlie Axel Woods 13 was born in February 2009.
After his Master’s win in 2019, Woods doted on both of his children as he attempted to hold back his tears.
