Timothy(Tim) Scott is a well-known politician and businessman based in America. He is known to be the junior United States Senator for South Carolina. He has been in office since 2013 after he was appointed by Governor Nikki Haley.
Tim was born to Ben Scott and Frances Scott on September 19, 1965, in North Charleston, South Carolina in the United States of America. His parents separated when he was seven years old and was raised by his mother.
Tim attended high school at R.B. Stall High School. After high school, he continued at Presbyterian College from 1983 to 1984, on a partial football scholarship. From 1984 to 1988, he was at Charleston Southern University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. Tim served on the Charleston County council from 1996 to 2008.
In 2010, Tim was elected to the United States House of Representatives for South Carolina’s 1st congressional district. He was there from 2011 to 2013. He happens to be part of the eleven African-Americans to have served in the U.S. Senate, and the first to serve in both chambers of Congress.
Tim holds the record as the first African-American senator from South Carolina and the first African-American Republican to serve in the U.S. Senate since Edward Brooke left in 1979.
