Todd M. Ricketts was born September 23, 1969, he is a co-owner of the Chicago Cubs, a member of the TD Ameritrade board of directors, and the current Republican National Committee Finance Chairman.
Todd Ricketts is the son of TD Ameritrade founder and millionaire Joe Ricketts and Marlene Margaret (née Volkmer). Ricketts was born in Omaha, Nebraska.
Forbes estimated the Ricketts’ family fortune ($1 billion), aggregated under the name J. Joseph Ricketts, to be 371st on the Forbes 400 list. Ricketts is also the brother of Pete Ricketts, the current Governor of Nebraska in the United States.
Ricketts graduated from Loyola University Chicago in 1994 with a bachelor of arts in economics and afterward attended the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
Ricketts left Booth before completing his MBA requirements to work as a trader at Knight Securities, a New York-based company.
Ricketts oversees the Republican arm of the Ricketts family’s conservative political efforts. Following Walker’s withdrawal from the race in September 2015, the Ricketts family gave $5.5 million to Our Principles PAC, a super PAC opposing Donald Trump’s campaign.
Ricketts modified his position once Trump became the Republican Party’s expected nominee, endorsing Trump. Ricketts was elected as an at-large member of the Illinois delegation to the Republican National Convention in May 2016.
