Tyler Alexander is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2019.
Alexander has always been a gem in the rough. While he isn’t a top-tier pitcher or a Cy Young Award contender, he has been a valuable addition to the Tigers’ pitching squad.
He has been consistent and dependable for the Tigers, and they will reap the benefits of his return in 2022. Alexander pitched in 41 games in 2021, making 15 starts and totaling 106.1 innings pitched.
Alexander pitched to a 3.81 ERA and 1.26 WHIP while striking out 87 batters.
When Alexander is utilized as a starter, he tends to be solid for the first time through the order before faltering occasionally after that.
Out of spring training in 2021, Alexander made the Tigers’ opening day roster. Before being promoted to an official starting role in July, he began the season as a long reliever and occasional “opener” (pitching the first two to three innings of a game).
As a professional pitcher, he takes home an annual average of $578,800.
