Tyler Austin Wells is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles in the United State.
Prior to going to Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa, Calif., Wells attended University High School in Morgantown, W. Va.
In 2012, as a junior, he had an 8-0 record and an ERA of 0.84. He has a 0.28 earned run average as a senior in 2013.
Wells attended California State University, San Bernardino, where he played collegiate baseball for the Coyotes. He was not selected in the 2013 MLB draft out of high school.
For the 2014 season, Wells appeared in 11 games (eight starts) and had a 4.30 ERA, while for the 2015 season, he appeared in 12 games (two starts) and had a 4.93 ERA.
Wells made a name for himself as a junior, going 4–7 with a 2.84 ERA in 15 appearances.
During the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, Minnesota Twins selected Wells in round 15.
In ten starts with the Elizabethton Twins, Wells was 5-2 with a 3.23 ERA in his professional debut.
He began 2018 with the Fort Myers Miracle, where he was named a Florida State League All-Star before being promoted to the Chattanooga Lookouts in July, where he ended the season.
In 2017, he pitched for the Cedar Rapids Kernels, going 5-3 with a 3.11 ERA in 14 starts. Wells was 10-6 with a 2.49 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP in 22 appearances (20 starts) between the two teams.
However, he was forced to sit out the rest of the season after having Tommy John surgery in May, which he had with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the minor league season was canceled in 2020, and Wells was unable to participate.
