UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall
The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s future mixed martial arts event, UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall (also known as UFC Fight Night 204 and UFC on ESPN+ 62), will take place on March 19, 2022 at The O2 Arena in London, England.
It will be the first event in London since UFC Fight Night: Till vs. Masvidal in March of this year.
The UFC was set to return to the city in March 2020 with UFC Fight Night: Woodley vs. Edwards and in September 2021 with UFC Fight Night:
Brunson vs. Till, however, the first event was canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, and the second was moved to Las Vegas.
The event will be headlined by a heavyweight contest between former Bellator Heavyweight World Champion Alexander Volkov and Tom Aspinall.
Shamil Abdurakhimov was initially supposed to meet Aspinall, but after he was removed in favor of the main event, Abdurakhimov was rescheduled to face Sergei Pavlovich.
The event featured a bantamweight battle between Jack Shore and Umar Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov, though, was pulled from the fight for unclear reasons and replaced by Timur Valiev.
Jake Hadley and Francisco Figueiredo were set to fight in the flyweight division. Figueiredo, however, had to withdraw from the tournament for unclear reasons, and Allan Nascimento took his place.
Due to an injury, Hadley was forced to withdraw from the fight, and the match was called off.
The event included a lightweight bout between Jai Herbert and Mike Davis. Due to personal reasons, Davis withdrew from the fight and was replaced by Ilia Topuria.
In a welterweight match, Cláudio Silva was set to meet Gunnar Nelson. Silva, however, had to withdraw due to a knee injury in early March. Takashi Sato took his position.
What rank is Alexander Volkov?
In both promotions, he has held the title of heavyweight champion. He is ranked #6 in the UFC heavyweight rankings as of February 14, 2022.
