Viktor Sergeyevich Samokhin played and coached football for the Soviet Union and Russia.

He played with CSKA from 1982 to 1985 before moving to Hungary in 1987 to play for the Southern Group of Forces football team for the next five years.

He worked as a game coach for the Moscow club TRASKO in 1993.
From 1996 until 2002, Samokhin was a member of the Spartak coaching staff, which won the Russian Championship six times in a row and the Russian Cup in 1998.
