Clint N’Dumba Capela is a Swiss professional basketball player who currently plays for the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA (NBA). He is the Hawks’ lifetime field-goal percentage leader, and he led the NBA in that category during the 2017–18 season. In Switzerland’s history, he is the highest-paid team athlete.
He was born in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 18, 1994, at the age of 27. When Capela’s parents died, he was raised by a non-parent.
His mother is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and his father is from Angola. His brother advised he switch sports because he was 1.90 m (6 ft 3 in) as a 13-year-old.
Capela became increasingly interested in basketball after meeting Swiss legend Thabo Sefolosha. He was recognized with the Swiss squad in the European Junior Championships when he was 15 years old and joined the INSEP training camp in Chalon-sur-Saône, France.
From 2012 to 2014, he played professionally for the Élan Chalon, where he was voted the Best Young Player and Most Improved Player of the 2013–14 LNB Pro A season.
He signed with the Rockets on July 25, 2014, after being picked with the 25th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft. In a four-team, 12-player deal on February 5, 2020, Houston sent Capela and Nenê to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Robert Covington and Jordan Bell.
