Laken Tomlinson attended Duke University. Having started at Duke University in 2011, Tomlinson graduated from Duke in December 2014 with degrees in evolutionary anthropology (B.A.) and psychology (B.S.).
During his undergraduate career, he made his debut as a starter in his freshman season and went on to start 52 games. He was selected as an All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation when he was a senior (WCFF).
In 2015, he was named the men’s ACC Athlete of the Year after winning the Anthony J. McKevlin Award, which honors outstanding achievement in athletics.
Laken Tomlinson led Duke to 28 victories in four seasons, including the 2013 ACC Coastal Division title and three bowl berths (2012 Belk, 2013 Chick-fil-A & 2014 Hyundai Sun).
He started 52 games and logged 3,962 career snaps at right guard. Laken Tomlinson captained the squad in 2014 and was a unanimous All-America selection. In 2013 and 2014, he was twice named to the All-ACC first team.
Additionally, Laken Tomlinson was a four-time Academic All-ACC selection during 2011-12-13-14. He was the 2014 recipient of the Football Writers Association of America’s Courage Award, which was presented in collaboration with Orange Bowl.

Now, Duke’s All-America guard must choose between pursuing a professional football career and pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor.
Laken Tomlinson was born February 9, 1992, in Jamaica and currently plays offensive guard for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers (NFL). In the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected him.
