Phil Petty, a former University of South Carolina quarterback, died on Thursday, March 21, 2022. Phil Petty passed away at the age of 43.
From 1999 to 2001, Phil Petty was a member of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks. He also worked with Lou Holtz. Fans of his game are paying tribute to him on social media, particularly Twitter.
Phil Petty was an assistant coach at Gray Collegiate Academy in Columbia before his death.
In a statement, USC athletics director Ray Tanner paid tribute to Phil Petty.
‘”A native South Carolinian, he was a fighter on the football field, a wonderful person off the field, and a Gamecocks’ favorite. He was a wonderful father and husband, as well as a great friend to many. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Morgan, their children, Sage and McCoy, and his many friends” he stated.
